RED Magazine features Christmas Tartan Gift wrap

The very popular RED Magazine features Tartan Gift wrapping paper manufactured by Gordon Flavell at their Grangemouth based design studio and Printing facility near Falkirk in Central Scotland.


Scottish Tartans or plaids as they are sometimes known have been popular for many years and are based on the original coloured garments worn by the Scottish Highlanders. These multi-coloured clothes bore the specific colours of the individual families or clans.

There are now many thousands of different tartans
- the original designs of the great clan families
- country and district tartans
- tartans which are used by clubs, societies and associations
- government and military tartans
- corporate and company tartans


The individual tartans make very pleasing designs which can be used for any number of stationary items.

Gordon Flavell has been producing tartan gift wrapping paper for many years and are continually producing new designs based on these classic plaids and checks.

The ones which have been chosen by RED magazine include the ever current Royal Stewart red tartan and the Hunting Stewart Green tartan both of which feature very popular Christmas colours. They work very well with co-ordinating gold and coloured ribbon.

You know what it is like when you are out in the rain and you need to take a note.

You need to write some measurements if you are in construction or surveying. You need some notes if you are in the oil or marine industries. In the Training sector you need to have course notes.

The Industry list goes on and on - and what about golfers,sailers, mountaineers - everybody gets caught out sometimes and needs to read or write in the rain.

Flavell have recently sourced and then done extensive tests on a number of waterproof paper products and have found one in particular thatdoes all it says it should do. We have also trialled colour printing so we are confident in this product.

Christmas Robin Cards

The Robin at Christmas

According to the RSPB the Robin is the UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familiar throughout the year but most especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

It is also the most popular image for Christmas birds. The Robin above was photographed at Queens View near Pitlochry in Perthshire and features on one of the personalised Christmas card range from Flavell & Co.

Christmas Cards are one of the best ways of keeping in touch with your clients at the end of the year and assure them that you appreciate their business during the rest of the year and are thinking about them at the holiday season. Create a Professional Image

Do you want to create a professional image and impression?

What type of Corporate Creative Image do you need for your Stationery ?

You would want to choose a card and letterhead stock which reflects the type of image you have already created with your clients - efficient - professional - flashy - crisp - colourful. All can be correct in the right environment but can spell disaster if used incorrectly.

We have produced custom printed stationery for many professional firms such as lawyers and accountants and have also produced corporate stationery for clubs and discotheques. The image of both is totally different but just as important.


Business cards are usually 88 x 50mm. For single and up to 3 spot colour printing we use good quality thick 325gsm ivory board which is extra white and has a good sheen. For full colour cards we use a 375gsm art board which has an excellent gloss or silk coating.

Letterheads are usually A4 or American quarto and we offer quality 100gsm wove papers such as Character or Conqueror brands. Texture, Laid and Tinted papers are available and can be used to great effect.

Budget range of 100gsm bonds are especially good for large quantities to use in direct mail. Look for a paper that feels good, bulks well and allows good ink saturation.

Don't worry if you do not have a logo, Your design professional will offer a comprehensive design and layout service which gives you Corporate Stationery and Creative Stationery at very reasonable prices. Make sure your designer is sympathetic to your image and budget constraints.
